Each EMG-40TW active pickup in this 5-string bass can be switched from Dual Coil mode to Single Coil mode for J-bass sounds. Match that with the 18-volt BQC preamp that features 3-band EQ with sweepable mids and blend pot, and this instrument can put out a huge range of tones.

Based on Jerry Garcia's classic "Wolf" guitar built by Doug Irwan, this electric solidbody reflects my friend's passion for the Dead. The Walnut and Mahogany used in the project is wood he stashed away decades ago. Strat style switching with push pull single coil modes for the humbuckers add versatility. Super low action made possible by compound fretboard radius.

This straightforward, tone-driven solidbody roars through the Lollar P-90s when pushed. Turn back the gain and the tone is full and complex with unexpected brightness from a Mahogany guitar. Every possible combination of pickups is accessible via the three-way toggle and push-pull pots.
